The circus surrounding Vick has been a headache for the NFL in the last few years. There was lots of controversy when he was hired once again. The Philadelphia Eagles took flak from enthusiasts, and not to mention PETA. Questioning the employing of Vick was not exactly unfounded, as he didn’t play football for over two years. He never played a full game and never really saw many series. The starting quarterback, Kolb, was injured in a game against the Green Bay Packers. There was almost a come from behind victory with Vick at the helm. Based on how well Vick does within the role, he may end up becoming the starter for good.
Vick nearly beats the mean Green
The brand new season for the NFL has just kicked off. The first game for the Eagles was against the Green Bay Packers. Linebacker Stewart Bradley and quarterback Kevin Kolb both had to leave the field, having sustained concussions within the first half. In 2009, Vick had barely played a series and was put in the game. Vick put on an impressive performance, as he nearly pulled off an upset victory over the Packers. There is significant buzz about the Packers, as they’re thought to be Super Bowl contenders already. Vick, nevertheless, put up 175 yards passing, going 16 for 24, and scoring one touchdown. According to ESPN, Kolb and Bradley haven’t passed a function test after concussion, so Vick will start against the Lions.

. His future within the role might hinge on his performance. Should Vick do well, Eagles coach Andy Reid may have to choose between his two quarterbacks. You will find few quarterbacks that move the way Michael Vick does. Not cut from the traditional rocket arm mold, he can evade tacklers and find other spots to pass from quickly. This can match well with the classic West Coast scheme the Eagles use, as long as he consistently connects with receivers.

Basically, it all comes down to what happens later. Detroit is going to be desperate this year. If they have a chance to beat everyone, they will make an effort to do it. The Eagles may end up with a new starting quarterback. That is if Vick can start showing why he was a Pro Bowl QB all over once again.
